More Information about the Cardiac Multi-3 Panel Test Kit

Cardiac Multi-3 Panel Test Kit is a chromatographic immunoassay used to detect Troponin I, CK-MB, and myoglobin in serum, plasma or whole blood to diagnose myocardial infarction. Myocardial infarction or heart attack could usually last some hours. The use of this test kit is important for patients suspected to be suffering from a heart attack to help doctors determine the specifics of the patient’s condition. Myoglobin, CK-MB, and Troponin I are captured with a combination of antibody-coated particles in the test kit from the specimen. The specimen reacts with particle-coated antibodies and chromatographically migrates upward to then reach with specific reagents to create a colored line in the case of a positive result. When the levels are below the detection line, no colored line will appear indicating a negative result. The control line should always appear.

AccuQuik™ promotes the use of Cardiac Multi-3 Panel Test Kit.

The Disease

General Information

Myocardial infarction or generally known as a heart attack, is a medical emergency condition in which the heart does not get enough oxygen and nutrients due to blood clots. As like with any other muscles in the body, some heart tissue will start to die without blood and enough oxygen. Symptoms of myocardial infarction may include but are not limited to tightness or pain in the chest, neck, back, or arms, fatigue, lightheadedness, abnormal heartbeat, and anxiety. Myocardial infarction can be prevented by regular exercise, maintain of a healthy diet and weight, not smoking or using other tobacco products, and lowering LDL cholesterol levels as well as controlling the blood pressure.

Diagnosis

A doctor could diagnose myocardial infarction based on the symptoms, as well as the patients’ medical history and risk factors of cardiovascular disease. To confirm the diagnosis, serum cardiac markers test by blood test is commonly used. The heme protein myoglobin presents the 2% of the total muscle protein that transports oxygen with muscle cells, and increases in 2-4 hours after injury peaking after 9-12 hours. CK-MB level involved in cardiac muscle tissue metabolism also can be detected 3-8 hours after myocardial infarction peaking after 9-30 hours. Troponin I is usually found in cardiac muscle and released into the blood 4-16 hours after a heart attack. The lowest detection levels are 50ng/ml Myoglobin, 5ng/ml CK-MB and 0.5ng/ml Troponin I.
